about

This song actually pre-dates The EverDead by several months. It was one of two songs written for our proto-EverDead band, Descension, back in the winter of '99 (the other song being "Cut You Up").

This song originally had lyrics that borrowed heavily from the early Green Day song, "Don't Leave Me," as I had envisioned this song be a modified cover. However, the song ended up becoming its own thing, but some of the borrowed lyrics remained. With this version, I finally took the opportunity to alter the lyrics so that the song could stand on its own.

The song's title was also slightly altered (from "Human Prey" to "My Human Prey") in order to reflect that this version is different from the one featured on the Slumber Party Massacre EP.

lyrics

I stalk the night on the hunt for you
I’m a beast that’s on the prowl and you know it’s true
Right on your trail, I own the night
I want the blood flowing through your veins, it’s no use to fight
You’re my human prey
Thoughts of terror running through your mind
As you’re looking for the shelter that you can’t find
You scream in pain as I bite your flesh
It’s all about the hunt, but god I love the catch
